Declan Rice, Dom Solanke react as England captain Harry Kane gets emotional

Harry Kane was overcome with emotion after a key date and brought reactions from North London rivals at Arsenal and Tottenham.
The Bayern Munich poacher is, undoubtedly, the Three Lions’ greatest-ever goalscorer, boasting 71 goals in 105 caps for his nation, scoring his latest two in the most recent international break.
Kane, who has been linked with Man United and Liverpool this summer, has continued his illustrious career since bursting onto the scene at Tottenham in 2013 and will be looking to win the World Cup in 2026.
With just a year until the tournament kicks off across the USA, Canada and Mexico, many of the ageing members of the squad will be looking back to where they came from after the latest set of matches.
Harry Kane looks back at England debut in 2015
Taking to Instagram a decade to the day since his international debut [27 March], Kane wrote: “It’s hard to put into words what it feels like to make your debut for England, let alone score after 79 seconds. It’s what you dream of as a kid.
“It’s what you pretend to do in the park when you’re having a kickabout with your mates. It may have been 10 years ago today, but it’s a memory that will stay with me for the rest of my life, one that I worked so hard to achieve and one I am so, so grateful to have.”
The post gained likes from many of his national teammates, including North London rivals Declan Rice and Dominic Solanke, as well as Everton’s Jordan Pickford and Newcastle’s Kieran Trippier.
Newcastle United fans want World Cup title most of all amid Eddie Howe rumours
Football Insider verdict
Thomas Tuchel has just 18 months to prove himself as the man to deliver for England, and with one training camp already gone, that time is creeping ever-closer for the German.
Of course, football fans up and down the country will be putting aside their club ambitions to come together next summer, hoping to lift the World Cup trophy for the first time since 1966.
England’s last 5 permanent managers | Years |
Fabio Capello | 2008-2012 |
Roy Hodgson | 2012-2016 |
Sam Allardyce | 2016-2016 |
Gareth Southgate | 2016-2024 |
Thomas Tuchel | 2025-Current |
However, Newcastle United fans have a little extra incentive, given that if Tuchel fails in his quest, Eddie Howe is thought likely to be approached for the England job next.
The former Bournemouth figure only looks to be at the beginning of his journey at St James’ Park, but given his early setback in life and retiring from football at 29 years of age, it might be difficult to turn down an offer of coaching the Three Lions.
If this current England squad is unable to bring silverware back to Wembley Stadium, though, it might just be a matter of time before the Magpies hear some bad news.
