Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice has spoken out after his side’s frustrating 2-2 draw against Aston Villa on Saturday (18 January).

The Gunners were leading 2-0 after goals from Gabriel Martinelli and Kai Havertz, but Mikel Arteta's team threw it away as Youri Tielemans and Ollie Watkins levelled things up later in the second half.

The result allowed Liverpool to extend their gap at the top of the Premier League table to six points, with Arne Slot's men still having a game in hand over their title rivals.

However, there was frustration at the Emirates Stadium after Mikel Merino felt he had won his team the game in the dying embers of the match.

Merino's shot deflected off Havertz and VAR ultimately ruled it out due to a handball, which is a decision that has split fans.

Rice made his feelings on the matter clear via an Instagram message stating, "So unlucky yesterday but time to stay positive & keep believing. Appreciate all of the love."

Arsenal will look to strengthen to boost their Premier League title aspirations

Arteta is aiming to combat Arsenal's difficult Premier League standings by bolstering his options in the January transfer window.

Football Insider revealed the Gunners have turned their attention to signing Vitor Osimhen this month.

Arsenal's attacking options have been decimated in recent weeks due to injuries to Gabriel Jesus and Bukayo Saka, which has led to the club trying to find replacements.
