Dele Alli has taken to social media to share a fitness update after picking up an injury while training with his former club Everton.
The 28-year-old’s Everton contract expired at the end of last season, but he has been allowed to use the club’s training facility in the hopes of regaining fitness and earning a new deal.
Speaking to BBC Sounds earlier in the year, Everton Sporting Director Kevin Thelwell said: "We are in a good space now with Tottenham, we have an agreement with those guys about what happens next if we sign him.”
He continued: "He would dearly love to play for Everton in the Premier League and we would dearly love that to happen as well because the boy has had a very difficult time."
He has since suffered another major setback after picking up a hamstring injury and having been out of action for nearly two full calendar years.
The former England star’s last competitive appearance came while on loan from the Merseyside club at Turkish side Besiktas back in February 2023.
Dele Alli still working towards new Everton deal despite latest injury setback
Sean Dyche’s side could sure use Dele’s creativity, with Everton scoring just 14 goals across their opening 14 Premier League games.
Dele remains determined to win a new deal at the Merseyside club, taking to Instagram to share an update and let the fans know he’s working hard to get back to the top level, captioning the post: “Create it.”
Everton sit in 15th after the Merseyside derby with Liverpool was postponed on Saturday (December 7) due to severe weather caused by Storm Darragh.
Dyche’s side travel to Arsenal on Saturday (December 14) as they hope to pick up some valuable points in their fight against relegation.
