Over the past few days, the Spanish media have reported endlessly on Aston Villa’s interest in Celta Vigo’s Óscar Mingueza.

Earlier this week, La Voz de Galicia reported Celta Vigo have no concerns over losing the 25-year-old because he’s happy at the club.

Earlier today, El Desmarque said the La Liga fear Aston Villa will activate the right-back’s €20m release clause in the next few days. It was also stated the Spanish club can prepare themselves for the possibility of losing him in the winter market.

Thursday’s edition of La Voz de Galicia takes a look at Aston Villa’s desire to try and sign the former Barcelona in this window.

At this point in time, Unai Emery’s side haven’t made contact with Celta Vigo to even register their interest.

The report states Mingueza has assured his club that he’s happy and wants to continue at Celta Vigo.

Despite all this, there’s panic at the Vigo based club over Aston Villa or another interested party paying his €20m release clause right at the end of the January window.

Such a move would be a called a ‘clausulazo’, something of a devastating approach from Aston Villa which would leave Celta Vigo helpless.
