Bukayo Saka has tipped one Liverpool star to potentially become a manager one day, insisting that he absolutely loves the game.

More and more, football appears to see former players attempt to define an era once they move to the dugout, with Pep Guardiola, of course, inspiring so many managers.

Bukayo Saka obviously works with one of those, with Mikel Arteta spending a number of years as a coach at Manchester City before becoming Arsenal boss. Arteta is best placed right now to become the first boss to win the Premier League in their first managerial role.

So it will be interesting to see which stars currently playing go on to enjoy huge success as a manager in a decade or so.

Speaking on Lions’ Den, Saka was asked which member of the current England squad has the potential to become a manager in the future. And after agreeing that Harry Kane is a contender, Saka mentioned Trent Alexander-Arnold.

“H comes to mind. Do you know who’s on my mind? Trent. I think he could be a gaffer, you know, he loves the game,” he said.

Trent Alexander-Arnold may have already had the best training for future career

Many of the best managers have tended to work under an inspirational boss during their playing days, with Pep Guardiola, for example, playing under Johan Cruyff at Barcelona. Xabi Alonso meanwhile, has worked under the best of the very best, and that perhaps helps explain why he has done such a phenomenal job at Bayer Leverkusen.

So it could potentially prove to be significant that Alexander-Arnold has spent so much of his career working with Jürgen Klopp. Klopp is the kind of manager players would run through a brick wall for, and is loved like few others across the game.

There are likely to be a number of players who become managers because of their time working with Klopp, and perhaps Alexander-Arnold may be one of those.
