'Doesn't look right': VAR told they made a serious error during Liverpool vs Fulham on Saturday

Liverpool drew against Fulham on Saturday in a game that could have seriously dented their title hopes.
Luckily, Liverpool remain in a strong position after Arsenal and Manchester City also dropped points.

However, this game was a real scare for the Reds, and, if anything, they were fortunate to come away with a draw having had to play over an hour with 10 men.
Andrew Robertson was sent off early in the game at Anfield on Saturday, and speaking on The Weekend Wrap, former Premier League referee, Dermot Gallagher, has claimed that he doesn't agree with the decision to send Robertson off.

Dermot Gallagher questions Andy Robertson red card
Gallagher spoke about Robertson's red card.
The former referee says he doesn't agree with this call, claiming that Harry Wilson wasn't in a clear goalscoring position when he was fouled.
"I have my reservations about it. I'm not sure it denied an obvious goalscoring opportunity," Dermot Gallagher said.
"As it panned out, we look now, there are too many variables. Is he in control of the ball? Certainly not, is he likely to control the ball? I doubt it, is he going towards goal? Certainly not. I have my reservations, I don't think it's right.
"Why didn't VAR help with that then?" Gallagher was asked.
"They probably don't think the way I do. I have this notion that if you're going to give a red card I'm blowing the whistle unless someone's going to roll the ball in on the goal line. He blows up when Van Dijk clears the ball, and that in itself makes everyone look back and when you trace it back, it doesn't look right,” Gallagher added.
How have Liverpool fared with referees this season?
Liverpool have every right to question Robertson's red card on Saturday. As Gallagher says, this looked a dodgy decision.
However, at the same time, Liverpool have had the rub of the green on a few occasions this season.
Refereeing decisions in Liverpool’s favour this season | Result |
Diogo Jota wasn’t sent off for bad tackle vs Wolves | Wolves 1-2 Liverpool |
Curtis Jones handball unpunished vs Chelsea | Liverpool 2-1 Chelsea |
Gabriel Jesus late goal disallowed vs Arsenal | Arsenal 2-2 Liverpool |
Curtis Jones' handball against Chelsea was missed before Liverpool were awarded a penalty, while Diogo Jota could've been sent off in Liverpool's narrow win vs Wolves.
Meanwhile Gabriel Jesus scored a late winner at Anfield only for Arsenal's goal to be disallowed in controversial circumstances.
Liverpool had a bit of bad luck against Fulham, but the reality is that these things even themselves out over the course of a season.
So far, Liverpool have had their fair share of luck in terms of refereeing calls this year, and while Saturday's dismissal for Robertson was frustrating, it wasn't the most egregious call you'll see in the Premier League in this campaign.
