'Dominant': Marco Silva criticises West Ham's approach despite beating his Fulham side 3-2
Today at 03:41 AM
West Ham United recorded their first win under Graham Potter when Marco Silva and his Fulham team arrived at the London Stadium on Tuesday evening.
As many expected, Potter chose to deploy a West Ham eleven without a recognised striker, with Lucas Paqueta leading the line.
Many expected that Mohammed Kudus would be given that task against Fulham, but he was instead deployed on the right.
And whilst West Ham eventually earned a 3-2 win, it was a scoreline that felt harsh on Fulham, who hit the post and squandered one or two big chances.
In addition, Silva's side gifted West Ham two goals from sloppy play at the back, something Potter will certainly accept with open arms right now.
Marco Silva says Fulham did ‘everything’ better than West Ham
To that end, Silva spoke to TNT Sports after the game and was quite blunt about his Fulham side deserving to win, and in turn criticising West Ham's approach.
The Portuguese manager claimed that his side were the only one trying to win the game from the off, seemingly not impressed with how Potter's side approached the match.

Silva said: "When you make mistakes like we did, it’s very difficult to win football matches.
"We were the most dominant team from the first minute and created the most chances.
"There was only one team that was on the pitch trying to win the game until we conceded that first goal that we gave them.
"We controlled the game and hit the crossbar. We showed the quality until then, but we have to keep the standards up throughout the game.
“We also had another one hit the crossbar from Raul Jimenez, and even with the mistakes we made in the first half, the result could have been completely different if we were clinical.
“In the second half, we knew we had to start strong and score early to come back and get a result.
"We did it and then we gave another goal away for them. We did everything much more than West Ham.
"We have been dominant like we are in all the games. But it didn’t reflect at all in the result but this is the reality of the Premier League.”
West Ham determined to find to a striker
Of course, Potter will ultimately just be happy that his side were able to secure three points, a win that shoots his side up to 12th.
The Hammers will welcome Crystal Palace to the London Stadium on Saturday, another game that many in east London will consider winnable.
West Ham are hunting for a striker right now following injuries to Michail Antonio and Niclas Fullkrug.
And although finding the right player is proving difficult, Potter’s side are exploring several opportunities.
West Ham failed with a bid for Jhon Duran, but perhaps that is still a situation to watch before the end of the transfer window.
