'Don't think that will work': Chris Sutton predicts who'll win between Liverpool and Forest tomorrow

There’s a good chance Liverpool were one of the Premier League sides most disappointed by the international break coming along.

The Reds have hit the ground running this season, winning all three of their league games so far and keeping a clean sheet every time.

Indeed, Liverpool’s last win between the break was a 3-0 win away at Manchester United, which showed just how much of a gulf there is between the two rivals.

Now, Liverpool are set to return to action against another team known as the Reds, namely Nottingham Forest.

Anfield will play host to Arne Slot’s charges and Nuno Espirito Santo’s side in a 3pm kick-off on Saturday.

BBC Sport pundit Chris Sutton has now given his prediction for the game on Merseyside.

Mohamed Salah backed to score in routine Liverpool win over Nottingham Forest

Although Forest have begun their league campaign well, with one win and two draws, Liverpool will be heavy favourites at home.

Sutton’s prediction on the BBC Sport website reflects this, as he backed Slot’s Reds to pick up a routine 2-0 win against the City Ground side.

“I am at Anfield for Radio 5 Live and I am looking forward to seeing Arne Slot’s Liverpool,” Sutton wrote.

“They have not conceded a goal yet, and don’t give away many chances, but they still look good going forward and absolutely tore Manchester United apart at Old Trafford.

“Chris Wood is in good form for Nottingham Forest but I just don’t see them scoring.

“Their plan will probably just be to sit in and try to keep Liverpool out, but I don’t think that will work either – Mohamed Salah will score, and Slot will win again.”

Liverpool v Nottingham Forest team news

Liverpool will be without Harvey Elliott due to injury, while Alexis Mac Allister and Federico Chiesa are both in contention.

Elliott aside, Slot has a full squad available for the meeting with Forest.

Meanwhile, the visitors could be without Ibrahim Sangare and Willy Boly at Anfield, while Danilo is a long-term injury absentee.

Forest will also assess Ramon Sosa and Chris Wood after their exertions with Paraguay and New Zealand respectively during the international break.
