Ederson is increasingly likely to quit Man City this summer amid questions about his long-term future, sources have told Football Insider.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that there is “massive” clamour for the goalkeeper’s signing among a number of Saudi Pro League outfits.
The 31-year-old is also believed to be considering his options and could be tempted by a big-money offer from the Middle East.
This comes after Saudi football expert Paul Robinson told Football Insider in February that Al-Hilal, Al-Nassr and Al-Ittihad have all entered the race to sign the Brazilian.
Ederson’s current contract at the Etihad is set to run until June 2026 and with no plans to offer him a new deal, this summer is City’s last chance to raise funds from his sale.
He remains Pep Guardiola's number-one goalkeeper as things stand, but he has been subject to non-stop speculation about his long-term future at the Etihad.
Ederson could quit Man City amid Saudi Pro League interest
Football Insider revealed last month that Ederson could quit Man City when the transfer window opens amid interest from Saudi Pro League sides.
That interest first emerged during last summer’s transfer window and has not yet faded, while the goalkeeper is keen to make the switch.
The money on offer in the Middle East is likely to turn his head, while he has been in and out of the starting XI after what has been an inconsistent season for City.
As a result, there have been suggestions that all parties are prepared to move on at the end of the season in what will be a busy summer.
Meanwhile, former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Guardiola will allow Ederson to leave as part of large-scale changes to his team.
Pep Guardiola eyes goalkeeper signing after Ederson latest
Amid speculation about Ederson’s future, Man City have begun preparations to sign a replacement between the sticks in the summer window.
Football Insider revealed on 20 April that Man City have made moves to identify a goalkeeper who can come in as their new number-one when the Brazilian leaves.
Stefan Ortega is unlikely to be viewed as the automatic replacement in goal, while his contract is also set to expire in 2026 as things stand.
This comes after Football Insider revealed last July that City were prepared to sign a new goalkeeper if Ederson made the heavily-rumoured move to Saudi Arabia.
