Cristian Romero posted a heartfelt message to fans after Argentina battered Brazil – despite his costly error in the match.
Argentina dominated their fierce rivals with a resounding 4-1 victory in the early hours of 26 March during the latest round of World Cup qualifiers.
Julian Alvarez opened the scoring with a clinical finish before Chelsea's Enzo Fernandez, who continues to be linked with Real Madrid, doubled the lead.
Romero then found himself at fault for Brazil's only goal, as he was caught dwelling on the ball, allowing Matheus Cunha to pounce, intercept his pass, and score from distance.
Despite the mistake, Argentina remained in control, with Alexis Mac Allister and Giuliano Simeone sealing an emphatic win.
Emi Martinez had already delivered a passionate message to supporters post-match, and Romero quickly followed suit with his own response to the fans.

Romero shared a message with fans after Argentina's emphatic win, saying: “With humility and the desire to continue taking our national team to the highest level. Goal achieved and a great win. Thank you all for the love, as always. See you soon.”
Despite his costly mistake in the match, Martinez responded with a show of support, commenting “Mi Central”, while Tottenham teammates Mickey van de Ven and Pedro Porro reacted by liking the post.
It has been a tough campaign for Romero at club level, with injuries limiting him to just 14 Premier League appearances this season. The Argentine defender has missed 26 games in total, leaving Tottenham fans frustrated with Romero due to his recurring fitness setbacks.
His injury struggles even prompted Tottenham to bring in Kevin Danso during the January window, as concerns over his long-term availability grow. Now, the club may have to prepare for life without him on a more permanent basis.

Tottenham target Marc Guehi and Fikayo Tomori amid Romero exit rumours
Despite his injury issues this season, Football Insider revealed that Romero is on Real Madrid's list of summer transfer targets and is keen on a the move.
While no formal talks have taken place, Spurs appear to be putting plans in place. Crystal Palace's Marc Guehi and Fikayo Tomori have both been identified by Tottenham as key defensive targets as the club looks to strengthen at the back this summer.
Losing Romero would be a major blow for Ange Postecoglou's side, given their defensive frailties this season. If he does depart, securing a quality replacement will be a top priority in the upcoming transfer window.
