The international break has driven many football fans to complete boredom, so much so that a new trend has emerged.

Indeed, you may have seen on social media this week many fans and even clubs themselves posting compilation videos of players from the late 2000s and early 2010s.

Fans have been reminiscing about this era of football when the Premier League was sponsored by Barclays, and, thus, the phrase Barclaysmen has come into the lexicon.

Fulham have jumped on this trend, and they've been asking their squad who their favourite players from this era were.

The likes of Hatem Ben Arfa, Adel Taarabt and even Morten Gamst Pedersen were mentioned.

However, Emile Smith Rowe gave an answer that will likely warm the hearts of Arsenal fans.

Emile Smith Rowe picks Jack Wilshere as his favourite Barclays Premier League player

Speaking to Fulham's YouTube channel, Smith Rowe picked Jack Wilshere as his favourite player from the Barclays Premier League era.

Wilshere, of course, played for Arsenal throughout this period, and he was utterly brilliant at times.

The England international was mesmeric in the middle of the park when he came through as a teenage sensation.

Sadly, injuries hampered his development and ultimately cut his career short.

Wilshere would leave Arsenal in 2018, but he left a serious legacy at the Emirates, so much so that Smith Rowe still remembers him as one of his favourite players.

Interestingly, Reiss Nelson also picked a former Arsenal player when he was asked this question, as he named Cesc Fabregas as his favourite player from this era.

Emile Smith Rowe still loves Arsenal

Smith Rowe may be a Fulham player now, but he keeps dropping hints about his love for Arsenal.

Naming Wilshere as his favourite player just goes to show the affinity Smith Rowe has with the Gunners, while he also stated that he was sad to leave Arsenal when the move happened.

"It was definitely an emotional move. Like you said, I had been at Arsenal for so long, so it was definitely a sad moment, but I'm in a really good place at the moment," Smith Rowe said.

Smith Rowe may be a Fulham player now, but a piece of his heart will always belong to Arsenal.
