Everton have made it through to the fourth round of the FA Cup after running out 2-0 winners over Peterborough United at Goodison Park on Thursday night.
Goals from Beto and Iliman Ndiaye ensured that Everton would end a dramatic day on a high note, the club having announced Sean Dyche’s sacking hours before kick-off.
Everton Under-18s boss Leighton Baines and Toffees captain Seamus Coleman were installed as caretaker managers and they led their side to victory on Merseyside.
Beto opened the scoring in the 42nd minute following a superb through-ball by Harrison Armstrong as he rounded goalkeeper Nicholas Bilokapic and slotted home.
Ndiaye then made sure of victory when he converted a penalty in the eighth minute of stoppage time after Jarrad Branthwaite was bundled over at the back post by Jadel Katongo.
Armstrong was voted the Man of the Match for his impressive display on the night and Everton fans had some very kind things to say about the 17-year-old.
