Ex-Spurs scout predicts Levy's next Ange move after fans revolt

Ange Postecoglou is expected to remain in charge of Tottenham and has the backing of Daniel Levy, according to the club’s former scout.
Mick Brown, who also worked as the chief scout for Man United and Blackburn and remains very well-connected within the game including at Spurs, exclusively told Football Insider that the chairman is willing to “bite the bullet” and remain patient with the manager.
Now, despite a shock defeat to Leicester on 26 January, there is not thought to have been any change in the club’s decision and they remain behind Postecoglou in what is seen as a surprise stance given Levy’s renowned impatience and history of sacking managers over the last two-and-a-half decades.
Pressure has been growing on his position, with Spurs now winless in seven Premier League games and having dropped to 15th in the Premier League table.
Just eight points separate them from the relegation zone, while there is a nine-point gap to Fulham in the top half, leading to concern amongst the supporters.
However, with ten players ruled out through various injury issues, there is an acceptance that Postecoglou has been put into an impossible position.
Daniel Levy sticks with Ange Postecoglou in Tottenham sack twist
A defeat at home against relegation-battling Leicester last time out was the final straw for many supporters, with regular chants calling for the chairman to leave the club, but that does not appear to have changed the long-standing club chief’s mind.
Brown, who has worked closely with a number of elite managers including Sir Alex Ferguson, Ron Atkinson and David Moyes, insisted that the club must be patient given the ongoing issues behind the scenes at Tottenham.
“I still expect them to stick with him for now,” he told Football Insider.
“Players are getting closer to coming back from injuries.
“They’ve got to give that a few weeks because it’s not like magic where they come in and everything’s lovely again when they haven’t played for so long.
“He’ll get his players back and then they’ll be able to put some results together.
“I think they’re prepared to bite the bullet and go with it at the moment, unless something changes behind the scenes.
“Sacking the manager now won’t do anything for them, in my opinion, because they’ll have the same issue.
“A new man comes in, has to work with the players they’ve got and figure out what works best and all that, and nothing really changes.
“So I expect, for now at least, they’ll stick with Postecoglou and see where that takes them once these players get back to full fitness.”
