- EXCLUSIVE from Graeme Bailey
Newcastle United endured a really underwhelming summer transfer window.
Eddie Howe missed out on his main target Marc Guehi after the club failed to meet Crystal Palace’s £75m valuation.
Newcastle also failed to land a right winger, which was another key area Howe was desperate to strengthen.
The Magpies were restricted on what they could spend due to Financial Fair Play regulations, so it’s imperative for them to trade in Janaury in order to bring in further reinforcements.
With that said, TBR Football can exclusively reveal three players who could leave Newcastle with one already working on an exit.
Miguel Almiron working on January exit
TBR Football understands that Newcastle winger Miguel Almiron is working hard on finding his next club.
Newcastle are open to moving on some of their lesser-used players in January, which would help with their own hopes of bolstering some of the problem areas.
The Magpies want a new right-sided attacker and a central defender, and they are willing to move others on in order to help facilitate those deals.
One of those who has been told he can move on is Almiron, although, the Paraguayan has a long-term deal, he is tied to St James Park until 2027 according to his agent Daniel Campos.
Almiron’s agent admits they will explore Newcastle exit
Campos told Paraguay-based TYC Sports that his client Almiron will explore a Newcastle exit if offers arrive.
“He has a valid contract. The link was renewed last year for three more (June 2027), and with the new owners of the club,” Campos explained.
“Miguel does not despair about money issues or doing crazy things. If there is an offer from a team, we will go through the appropriate channels.”
Almiron has interest from the Saudi Pro League and also Major League Soccer, where he arrived from in 2019.
But there is also interest from his native South America, with River Plate, Boca Juniors and Palmeiras amongst those who are keen although the size of Almiron's £60,000-a-week contract is an issue.
TBR Football can confirm that former England internationals Callum Wilson and Kieran Trippier are also available and could move in January, but it is understood Eddie Howe only wants to lose players if they can be replaced.
