Arsenal are planning to offer Gabriel Magalhaes a new contract to deter interest from Saudi Pro League sides, sources have told Football Insider.
Talks over a new deal for the 27-year-old are being lined up ahead of the summer transfer window and the Gunners are prepared to do everything they can to keep hold of him.
Mikel Arteta is planning to keep the core of his squad together after the progress they have made over the past three seasons as they aim to win the Premier League title.
Gabriel’s current contract is set to run until 2027, but Arteta wants to secure his long-term future alongside William Saliba at the core of his defence.
This comes after industry insider Mick Brown told Football Insider that Arsenal will reject any bids for Gabriel despite growing interest from Al-Nassr.
Arsenal to reject Gabriel Magalhaes offers after Saudi twist
Interest in Gabriel has not come as a surprise given his stellar performances in an Arsenal shirt, with a potential big-money move to Saudi Arabia on the cards.
Alongside Saliba, who has attracted interest from Real Madrid, the Brazil international has cemented his presence as a crucial part of Arteta’s starting XI.
The defensive unit has been key to Arsenal’s success in recent years, and as a result they are not planning to entertain talks about his departure.
Instead, plans are being put in place to tie him down for the long-term future.
Arteta has also been backed to add to his defensive unit this summer as Arsenal are interested in signing Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace.
Bryan Mbeumo transfer update emerges at the Emirates
Amid speculation about possible outgoing transfers at Arsenal, the Gunners are also aiming to reinforce their squad as they plan another Premier League title charge.
Football Insider revealed on 20 March that Arsenal want to sign Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford as the Bees are bracing for interest in their star man.
Mbeumo has already recorded his best Premier League return this season, hitting 15 goals and notching five assists in 29 league games.
As a result, Newcastle and Liverpool have also been keeping a close eye on his progress ahead of a potential race for his signature in the summer.
