Cardiff City and Preston North End are keeping close tabs on Irish teenage star Warren Davis, sources have told Football Insider.

Davis has caught the eye of several English clubs after impressing at League of Ireland side Drogheda United.

Davis, who is the cousin of UFC superstar Connor McGregor, scored four goals and provided three assists in 36 appearances across all competitions last season and he is understood to have a buy-out in his contract at Drogheda.

The attacking midfielder has made 58 appearances for Drogheda despite only being 19 and he has represented Republic of Ireland at Under-19 level.

Davis found the back of the net on his debut at international level as he showcased his ability to adapt to that standard immediately.

The teenager is under contract at Drogheda until 2025, but the Irish side could look to cash in on his performances.

Cardiff and Preston will battle out for Warren Davis

The two Championship outfits have identified Davis as someone who could bolster their attacking options moving forward for the remainder of this season and beyond.

Both teams currently sit in the bottom half of the table, and scoring goals is something that they have struggled with this season.

Cardiff are currently in the relegation zone and have only scored 25 goals in as many games while Preston sits 15th and have found the back of the net just three more times.

Davis is seen as someone who could add some quality in the final third to both teams as they look to climb the table.

Meanwhile, the potential move would be seen as a step up the football pyramid for Davis as he continues to develop his own career.
