Exclusive: Celtic star pushing to leave Parkhead in January transfer twist

Maik Nawrocki is “very keen” to leave Celtic this month after growing frustrated with a lack of playing time, sources have told Football Insider.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that the centre-back could push for an exit after missing out on a move away from Parkhead during the summer.
This comes shortly after Football Insider revealed that the 23-year-old is one of three Celtic stars close to leaving the club in the January transfer window.
Brendan Rodgers’ side are keen to part ways with a number of their fringe players in an attempt to raise money for reinvestment into the first-team.
Nawrocki has yet to feature in a single league game for Celtic so far this season and is looking to push for a move away in search of improved game time.
His only appearance has come in the closing stages of the 5-2 victory against Championship outfit Falkirk as he came off the bench for a five-minute cameo in the closing stages.

Nawrocki’s current contract at Parkhead is set to run until 2028 after he signed a five-year deal upon his £4.3million arrival from Legia Warsaw in 2023.
However, after 18 months in Glasgow, there is a growing feeling that the time has already come to part ways as he will play no part in Rodgers’ plans for the future.
Since joining the club, the centre-back has struggled with a number of muscle injuries after missing a number of games with injuries to both his calf and hamstring.
He has only made 14 appearances since the summer of 2023, and will now look to leave the club despite the lack of clubs currently interested in the move.
It is also thought Celtic will be keen to make back a significant proportion of the money spent on his signature, leading to questions about club’s willingness to make a move.
