TBR Football has been informed that Newcastle United are ready to turn to their attentions fully to Alexander Isak after Anthony Gordon pledged his future to the club.

Last October, Bruno Guimaraes put pen-to-paper on a new long-term deal and now Gordon has followed up by finalising his long-term deal, committing to the Magpies until 2030.

TBR Football revealed in September that Gordon had come to agreement on a six-year deal, which is not believed to include a release clause.

Gordon has now put pen-to-paper on what TBR Football understands is the largest contract in Newcastle history.

Speaking after inking his new deal, Gordon told Newcastle’s website: “I just think the club’s in a great place.

“I’m very happy here, I like living here, the team is very suited to me – and I’m here to win a trophy. The short story is we need to win a trophy. Winning a trophy here would be unbelievable because the fans have waited so long. To be part of that team who finally does it is a massive goal of mine.”

Newcastle working on striker agreement

With Bruno agreeing his long-term deal 12-months ago and now Gordon joining him, two of Newcastle’s big three have recommitted to the club and now attention is becoming fully focused on Isak.

TBR Football revealed earlier this month that Isak’s talks over a new had stalled, but the club retained a confidence of coming to agreement.

Isak’s current deal runs until 2028, but as it stands he is now some way off the weekly wages of Bruno and Gordon, and Newcastle are eager to reward him.

TBR Football is told that Newcastle are set to make a ‘renewed effort’ in the coming weeks to try and reach an agreement with Isak.
