Everton have a “concrete interest” in Bournemouth recruitment chief Tiago Pinto, sources have told Football Insider.

The Merseyside giants are plotting a complete revamp of their transfer set-up under their new ownership.

Sources close to the club say Pinto, who joined Bournemouth last May in a deal first revealed by Football Insider, is a top target for Everton.

Their interest suggests the position of current director of football Kevin Thelwell is in major doubt going into the second half of the season.

Pinto, 40, is strongly admired by The Friedkin Group who own Everton on the back of a CV that includes impressive spells at Roma and Benfica as well as high-flying Bournemouth.

Dan Friedkin brought the Portuguese transfer guru to Roma in 2020 and described him as a “world-class talent” when his appointment was announced.

Pinto has since enhanced his reputation with Bournemouth after replacing Richard Hughes on the south coast following his move to Liverpool.

He helped bring impressive duo Dean Huijsen and Evanilson to the Cherries last summer (2024) after taking up his role at the Vitality Stadium.

Thelwell has been in place at Everton since 2022 and was a close ally of former owner Farhad Moshiri.

He and the new Friedkin administration will be hard at work to improve the Toffees’ squad for the second half of the 2024-25 campaign.

Sean Dyche’s side sit 16th in the Premier League and are just one point above the relegation zone after 19 games of this season.
