Exclusive: Highly-regarded Chelsea sensation wanted for January exit

Chelsea defender Brodi Hughes is a loan target for a number of Championship and League One clubs in this month’s transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.
Hughes is highly-regarded within the corridors of power at Stamford Bridge having come through the youth ranks at Stamford Bridge.
The 20-year-old has yet to make his first-team debut for the Blues, but he has been a regular for the club’s Under-21s in Premier League 2.
The right-back is in the final six months of his contract at Chelsea and the Blues could be open to letting him leave permanently in the summer.
Brodi Hughes in demand amid Chelsea rise
While he is yet to make his senior debut for Enzo Maresca’s side, Hughes has already been capped by England on multiple occasions at both Under 16s and Under 18s level.
The Chelsea prospect is also capable of playing in other roles as well as his main position on the right of defence.
All of that has led to several clubs in the Football League taking an interest in a temporary move for the 20-year-old this month.
His contract situation means that could also open up the prospect of a longer-term deal for the defender come the end of the season.
Hughes may not be the only player to leave Chelsea this month, and Football Insider understands Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall is another who is being lined up for a move away.
After Reece James came off the bench to rescue a point for the Blues against Bournemouth on Tuesday (14 January), Maresca’s side currently sit fourth in the Premier League table.
They are however, winless in their last five league matches, leaving them ten points behind leaders Liverpool, having played a game more.
Next up for the Blues is the visit of Wolves to Stamford Bridge on Monda night (20 January).
