Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City eyeing Cristhian Mosquera

TBR Football can reveal that Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City have all been checking on the progress of Valencia defender Cristhian Mosquera.

The 20-year-old is already a key part of Valencia's side having made his debut aged just 17.

Mosquera, who also qualifies for Colombia, was part of Spain's squad that won Olympic gold.

He is seen as one of the best defensive prospects in La Liga and it is little surprise he is attracting the attention of some of England's top clubs.

We can reveal that Liverpool, Arsenal and Man City have all watched Mosquera this season.

But it is not just English interest emanating in Mosquera as we also understand that Juventus and Bayer Leverkusen have been checking on him.

Valencia's youth set-up has seen them produce a clutch of highly-rated young defenders as alongside Mosquera, they also have Yarek Gasiorowski and Cesar Tarrega all showing up well.

In the summer, when Valencia were talking to Atletico Madrid about Mosquera, a price tag of £20million was mooted, and Los Che would be open to a similar deal this January.

Who is Cristhian Mosquera? Career and style of play

Mosquera was born on 27 June 2004 in Valencia to Colombian parents and initially played basketball in his hometown.

He then switched to futsal and eventually progressed to association football.

Mosquera played for the likes of Carolinas and Hercules in his youth before joining Valencia’s academy in 2016.

He rose through the ranks at Valencia before breaking into the first-team in 2023, and he has made 60 competitive senior appearances to date.

Mosquera’s rise to prominence has seen him named in this year’s Golden Boy shortlist alongside the likes of Lamine Yamal, Joao Neves, Warren Zaire-Emery and Alejandro Garnacho.

The Guardian described Mosquera in 2021 as a ‘physically imposing’ player who is ‘accomplished in bringing the ball out, quick, and with excellent anticipation’.

They also quoted Valencia coach Miguel-Angel Angulo as saying: “He's characterised by a physical condition and good technical qualities, powerful in the air, and mature for his age.”
