Liverpool could land Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi for a cut-price fee of around £50-60million this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

The Eagles fought off interest from Newcastle last summer (2024), with Eddie Howe’s side seeing up to four bids rejected for the centre-back.

It is believed Palace wanted around £75-80million for their captain at that time, but Guehi will have just 12 months remaining on his contract at Selhurst Park in June.

The 24-year-old can therefore negotiate a free transfer exit from the Croydon club to a foreign side in January 2026 as things stand.

Palace are set to be forced to lower their valuation of Guehi in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Football Insider revealed on Monday (17 March) that Newcastle, Tottenham and Chelsea will also be in the race for the defender’s signature – but Liverpool are in pole position to land the centre-back.

Guehi is a regular England international after breaking into the side in 2022 and was named in Thomas Tuchel’s first squad in recent days.

He enhanced his reputation across Europe after starring for the Three Lions as they reached the final of Euro 2024 in Germany.

The Crystal Palace captain has made 34 starts across all competitions this term.

Liverpool are searching for centre-back reinforcements amid question marks over the futures of Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate, who are out of contract in 2025 and 2026 respectively.

Konate’s Liverpool future in doubt

Football Insider revealed on 14 March that Liverpool have yet to reach an agreement with Konate, 25, over a new contract despite ongoing talks.

Liverpool opened contract talks with Konate in October and while they remain keen to tie him down, little progress has been made.

The France international has made 34 appearances across all competitions this season, starting in 31 of those outings.
