Exclusive: Luton Town recall Pepple and agree Chesterfield deal

Luton forward Aribim Pepple is being recalled from his loan at Southend ahead of a move to Chesterfield for the second half of the season, sources have told Football Insider.
Pepple, 22, has featured 20 times for the Vanarama National League outfit since joining in August and has scored seven goals in that time.
As a result of his impressive displays, Luton are keen to test him in a higher division, and a number of clubs have taken note of his potential availability.
Chesterfield have moved ahead of the pack, though, and are pushing to bring in a new forward with month after Will Grigg’s injury blow.
Grigg is expected to be sidelined for at least a couple of months, while fellow striker Paddy Madden has also suffered injury issues, forcing Paul Cook’s side to enter the market for a new option.
Pepple has now emerged at the top of their list of targets, despite reports that The Spireites are also interested in a move to sign York City’s Dipo Akinyemi.

Pepple joined Luton from Canadian outfit Cavalry FC in 2022, and has since spent time on loan at Grimsby Town, Bromley, Inverness and Southend.
Chesterfield are now poised to become the striker’s fifth club in just four-and-a-half years since his move to England.
He already has experience of League Two after featuring 11 times for Grimsby in the 2022-23 season, where he picked up two assists but failed to find the net.
However, an impressive first-half of the season with Southend has seen his stock rise, and he is considered ready for another crack at the Football League.
The 22-year-old’s current contract with Luton is set to expire at the end of the season, with no talks over a new deal as things stand, meaning he could soon be available on a free transfer.
In other news, Wrexham are plotting a move to sign Cauley Woodrow from Luton.
