TBR Football can exclusively reveal that Manchester City are ready to bolster their defence by signing a young talent from Juventus.

Manchester City have struggled defensively this season, shipping more goals (27) than any team in the Premier League’s top six this season.

Pep Guardiola’s side have conceded more goals than Manchester United, who are languishing in 14th place this campaign which goes to show how leaky they have been at the back.

Man City transfer news: Nicolo Savona identified as January signing

TBR Football’s chief correspondentGraeme Bailey has been informed that Manchester City are looking to make a move for Juventus right-back Nicolo Savona in the January transfer window. TBR Football understands that City are ready to part ways with Kyle Walker this year, with a move to the Saudi Pro League in the works for the decorated speedster.

Pep Guardiola’s side have been doing their due diligence on several defensive options and Savona is one who has well and truly stood out to them, with Manchester City also impressed by Abdukodir Khusanov.

TBR Football can reveal that scouts at the Etihad Stadium feel the Italian defender is tailor-made for Guardiola’s system as he can also fill in as a centre-back.

So much so that Manchester City have identified the young full-back as a player who they see playing as a centre-back in their setup.

TBR Football have been notified that Juventus’ resolve could be tested for Savona in January.

Thiago Motta’s side are set for a busy January transfer window as well as they target the addition of a pair of brand-new centre-backs, one of them being Antonio Silva, who they have already held talks to sign.

Pep Guardiola has often changed the positions of several players in the past, tasking Philipp Lahm to play in midfield at Bayern Munich and deploying Fabian Delph as a left-back at Manchester City.

With City particularly suffering injuries at centre-back this season, the versatile Savona could prove to be a handy option if he manages to be available in the event that he is signed from Juventus in the winter window.
