David Moyes and incoming Everton chief executive Angus Kinnear are at loggerheads over the club’s planned recruitment shake-up, sources have told Football Insider.
Moyes, who returned as manager in January after Sean Dyche’s sacking, is pushing hard for the club to appoint Brighton’s David Weir and talks have already been held over a deal..
Weir, 54, played for the Scot at Everton and has had success on the south coast as technical director.
Meanwhile, Kinnear wants to bring Leeds’ transfer chief Nick Hammond with him from Elland Road.

The incoming chief executive’s appointment was confirmed earlier this month and he will begin the role on Merseyside in June.
It has also been suggested by Kinnear that Gary Penrice, who has been contracted to the sports agency Wasserman but has also been working for Leeds, could join the new-look Everton team.
But sources say Moyes is keen to surround himself with people he can trust and has already brought Alan Irvine back into his coaching team.
