Liverpool star forward Mohamed Salah is showing a willingness to agree a new contract with the club, sources have told Football Insider.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider's Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O'Rourke revealed it would be "Liverpool's perfect Christmas present" if the Egypt international signs a new deal.
Football Insider revealed on 6 December Salah is likely to extend his deal on Merseyside following the latest round of talks.
The forward is free to open talks with interested parties from 1 January as his contract at Anfield is due to expire in June 2025.
O'Rourke admitted it would be a "massive shock" if the 32-year-old were to agree terms with another club over the coming weeks.
There is growing confidence within the Liverpool camp Salah will sign a new deal, with the length of contract believed to be one of the few sticking points.

Salah has been in sensational form for Arne Slot's side this season, with his goal in the 3-1 victory over Leicester City on Thursday helping them extend their lead at the top of the Premier League table to seven points.
The Egyptian has registered 19 goals and 15 assists in just 25 games in all competitions, taking his overall goal tally to 230 in 374 appearances for Liverpool.
Salah has been outspoken about his contract situation after constantly being asked for updates when undertaking his media duties.
But Liverpool are now confident the attacker will extend his stay at Anfield beyond next summer, having spent the past seven years with the club.
There has also been plenty of speculation around the future of Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold, with the defensive duo's deals set to expire in June 2025.
Former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown told Football InsiderVan Dijk will join Salah in signing a new deal at Anfield.
Alexander-Arnold's future, however, remains more uncertain after he's been heavily linked with a free transfer to Real Madrid next summer.
