Arsenal have one big name player whose performances appear to be attracting the interest of European giants Real Madrid.

Mikel Arteta‘s side have made a very impressive start to life in the Premier League with seven points from their opening three games.

However, Arsenal fans will no doubt still feel some pain and anger after the second-half display against Brighton, which wasn’t helped by the controversy involving Declan Rice’s red card.

One player who has been in the news for all the good reasons is Arsenal’s William Saliba. Jamie Carragher stated that Saliba reminds him of a young Virgil van Dijk with his assertive performances this season.

However, it appears as if his fine form is attracting the interest of a European giant.

TBR Football understands that Saliba is someone who Real Madrid are firm admirers of and they are watching him closely on a regular basis.

Arsenal’s stance on William Saliba after Real Madrid scouting mission

The centre-back truly has developed into one of the best defenders in world football, so to see the European champions come calling is no surprise.

Declan Rice was recently saying just how ‘sensational’ Saliba is after his performance against Aston Villa.

And, TBR Football can confirm that Saliba is someone who the European champions are firm admirers of and they are watching him closely on a regular basis.

Central defence is a position that Real are ready to invest in going forward. They did have a strong interest in Leny Yoro, whilst Benfica's Antonio Silva is another they appreciate.

We understand that Real were represented at the recent Aston Villa-Arsenal Premier League clash in which Saliba was outstanding.

What Mikel Arteta has said about William Saliba

The fact that Arsenal paid just £27 million to sign the defender is mind-blowing as he could now easily fetch around £100 million in this current market.

Speaking on TNT Sports earlier on this year, Mikel Arteta was full of praise for the defender.

"He deserves a lot of credit. Because at his age to do what he's doing at a top club, it's very difficult.

"And that’s credit to him, but as well as the people he's had in his pathway that have brought him to this point in the best possible condition.

"And then as well his team-mates. You know, in the end, you are as good as the people you are surrounded with, and I think he's very lucky to have the people that he plays alongside and to do the job that he needs to do."
