Sheffield Wednesday and Queens Park Rangers have submitted offers for teen sensation Thomas Waddingham, sources have told Football Insider.
Waddingham, who is regarded as one of Australia's best young strikers, has attracted the interest of a number of clubs in Europe after breaking into the Brisbane Roar team.
The 19-year-old has netted four goals in 11 appearances for a struggling Brisbane side after scoring seven goals in 23 appearances last season in his breakout campaign.
Waddingham, who has been likened to legendary Australian striker Mark Viduka, is seen as a potential star in the making by Sheffield Wednesday and QPR and they are battling it out to bring him to England in this month’s transfer window.

Currently, the striker has a year-and-a-half remaining on his contract with Brisbane Roar, securing his future at the club until the summer of 2026.
As a result, both clubs would have to pay a fee if they are to complete a deal for Waddingham in the January transfer window.
Sheffield Wednesday manager Danny Rohl has won plenty of admirers since taking charge of the club in October 2023, and currently has them tenth in the Championship, three points adrift of the play-offs.
After a poor start to their own campaign, Marti Cifuentes looks to be turning things around for QPR as well.
They now sit 13th in the second-tier standings, five points behind Sheffield Wednesday as things stand.
While the Owls are yet to complete a first-team signing in the January window, QPR have already secured the services of Southampton defender Ronnie Edwards on loan until the end of the season.
In other news, three League One clubs are racing to sign a midfielder from Oldham Athletic.
