Vaclav Cerny signing permanently must be Rangers’ top priority following the completion of 49ers Enterprises’ expected takeover this summer, according to Alan Hutton.

The Czech Republic international’s sensational form during his loan spell at Ibrox has been one of the few bright spots in a disappointing season for the Bears.

Whilst Rangers will be keen to sign Cerny permanently this summer, fellow temporary Gers, Neraysho Kasanwirjo, Rafael Fernandes and Oscar Cortes have struggled to find their feet at Ibrox amid horrendous injury luck.

Recruitment has been an issue for the Bears in recent seasons and will be something the club will be looking to address in the coming transfer window.

49ers Enterprises takeover completion will reveal summer targets

With Celtic now just one win away from a fourth-consecutive Premiership title, the Bears are set for a huge summer overhaul as they attempt to restore parity with their Old Firm rivals.

Ianis Hagi’s future at Ibrox remains shrouded in mystery with his deal yet to be renewed, whilst Tom Lawrence’s contract with Rangers is also set to expire at the culmination of this season.

Any business the Bears will look to do this summer seems contingent on the 49ers Enterprises’ takeover, and until the deal is completed, not a lot of movement is expected to happen at Ibrox.

However, with Rangers set to receive a boost to their transfer budget once a new ownership group is in place, excitement is beginning to build around the club.

Rangers need strong Scottish core as Lyall Cameron set to join

Speaking to Football Insider exclusively via NewBettingOffers, ex-Rangers star Hutton wants to see Cerny‘s permanent deal made a priority, with the club also investing in building a strong Scottish core of players, saying:

“First and foremost, the takeover has to happen and then they need to see what funds are available. But I think that the overall quality of the group has to go up.

“There’s some situations within the group Hagi, Lawrence, these kind of guys that are out of contract.

“You’ve got Cortez, [Nedim] Bajrami that probably hasn’t quite worked out, so if you want to bridge the gap to Celtic the quality needs to get higher, and I think that’s probably the first thing on the agenda for the new manager, whoever it may be.”

When asked if there was one standout name Hutton had in mind, the ex-Scotland international said:

“I mean it’s difficult to tell, because you don’t really know the budgets, but the first thing that I’d be doing is I’d be looking at the Cerny situation. He’s obviously on loan from Wolfsburg.

“So I think that’s a situation that they have to kind of clear up because he’s been so important to the team this season, and moving forward, and I think tying him down would be a good thing moving forward.

“But it all links back to the fact the quality has to go up. So I mean, it’s difficult to kind of pinpoint who they’re going to do looking at.

“But I think they need a Scottish core within the group. If they could get that, we know Lyall Cameron is coming in, and then I think he adds the quality as well. I think if they can get a few more like that with some flair players, then they could be on the right track.”
