TBR Football can reveal that Totteham Hotsour remain interested in Edmond Tapsoba, however, they face two big hurdles should they hope to sign him.

Tottenham tried to sign Tapsoba in 2023 but instead opted to pursue a deal for Micky van de Ven from Wolfsburg, which proved to be a great decision.

The 26-year-old will be delighted he remained at Bayer Leverkusen as he ended up helping Xabi Alonso’s team to win the Bundesliga title that same season.

But now, Spurs and several other Premier League clubs are on his trail again, but as mentioned, they will face an uphill battle trying to sign him.

Bayer Leverkusen don’t want to sell Edmond Tapsoba

Bayer Leverkusen are unlikely to sell Edmond Tapsoba this summer with Jonathan Tah and Piero Hincapie likely to leave the German club, sources have told TBR Football's chief correspondent Graeme Bailey.

Leverkusen can’t afford to lose three central defenders in the same summer and Tapsoba seems the least likely of the three to leave.

Tottenham have actually held talks with Tah about a free transfer, however, Barcelona are leading the race to sign Tah.

Another barrier in Spurs’ pursuit of Tapsoba is the fact that several other Premier League clubs also like him and could rival them if he was available.

Brighton, Newcastle and Chelsea all like him, as do European heavyweights Atletico Madrid and RB Leipzig.

Leverkusen are believed to value the defender at around £46 million, but as mentioned, they are not interested in letting him go at this stage.

Tottenham might need to replace Cristain Romero

TBR Football reported on Wednesday that Cristian Romero is now ready to push for a move away from Tottenham with Atletico Madrid targeting him.

That is why the North London club have been looking at central defenders and another option Tottenham have been watching is Sporting CP’s Ousmane Diomande.

Spurs had a £70m bid rejected in January for Marc Guehi and they could try again for him in the summer but will face strong competition for the Crystal Palace captain.
