TBR Football can exclusively reveal Adam Wharton’s summer transfer stance amid interest from Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool.
Midfielders are likely to be high on many leading Premier League clubs’ wishlists, with Manchester City finding out the hard way after losing Rodri to long-term injury.
Meanwhile, Arsenal are set to lose Thomas Partey and Jorginho to expiring contracts, while Chelsea and Liverpool could do with more strength in depth.
Wharton has made a name for himself as one of the Premier League’s best players as he continues to shine for Crystal Palace.
Now, in addition to Wharton deciding what he wants to do this summer, Palace have also informed his suitors of their intentions – and price tag – for the player.
Adam Wharton in no rush to leave Crystal Palace as £100million price tag set
TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Baileyunderstands that Crystal Palace have made it clear to Adam Wharton’s suitors that they see him as a £100million player.
We can reveal that ‘several’ clubs have made enquiries in recent weeks about Wharton’s potential availability this summer.
However, the message has been clear that anyone thinking about a prospective deal would need to be thinking about record numbers.
The current British record is the £105million deal that Arsenal struck with West Ham for Declan Rice and we are told that Palace firmly see Wharton in that bracket.
TBR Football recently revealed that Manchester City have been watching Wharton – their own record is £100million for Jack Grealish – but they are not alone.
Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool are all admirers of Wharton – as are Real Madrid – but we are told that Palace are not expecting Wharton to leave Selhurst Park this summer.
Wharton missed a chunk of the season through injury but returned in February and is once again showing himself as one of Europe’s top young prospects.
The 21-year-old – who only joined Palace just over 12 months ago from Blackburn Rovers – is not understood to be in a real hurry to leave.
Indeed, Wharton is now focused on becoming part of Thomas Tuchel’s England squad ahead of next year’s World Cup finals.
Tuchel’s decision not to include Wharton was one of the talking points from his first England selection.
However, Wharton was invited to train with the senior party whilst with the Under-21s, highlighting he is part of the German’s thinking.
What Adam Wharton could bring to the Premier League giants
Wharton very much looks like the complete package as a midfielder, being tough-tackling and tenacious but also very sleek on the ball and boasting incredible passing range, vision and football IQ.
Wharton is also great at driving forward with the ball and getting into advanced areas where he can make the most of his brilliant passing and vision to create concrete chances for his teammates.

Marc Guehi recently lauded Wharton on Sky Sports, saying: "Adam's passing… Adam is again similar to like Ebs (Eberechi Eze), very laidback guy, really nice guy.
"But on the ball, unbelievable. His vision, his ability to find that last pass, yeah he's a really top player.”
However, the likes of Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool would all have to break the bank for his services.
