Wolverhampton Wanderers are not worried about losing Matheus Cunha in January despite interest from clubs like Arsenal, TBR Football can exclusively reveal.

Despite Wolves' struggles this season, Cunha has managed to score 10 goals in 21 games in the Premier League, explaining why clubs like Arsenal are taking notice.

Following their defeat to Chelsea, Wolves remain level on points with Ipswich Town who are in the drop zone, with Vitor Pereira's side currently safe via their better goal difference.

Cunha will undoubtedly be vital to Wolves' hopes of staying in the top flight, demonstrating why the club have been keen to tie the Brazilian down to a new contract.

Wolves were confident Cunha would sign a new deal, but the saga has now taken a new twist, one that may interest those in north London.

Wolves not worried about Matheus Cunha leaving despite contract talks stalling

Graeme Bailey – chief correspondent at TBR Football, understands that talks have now stalled over Cunha's new deal.

Issues have arisen over a release cause being included in the contract, however, Wolves are not too worried.

Understandably, Wolves have no plans to sell this month and the Brazilian striker is not out of contract so the club won't be forced into a sale.

Cunha's current contract runs until 2027, explaining why there is no reason to panic at Molineux.

In terms of Arsenal, Mikel Arteta really appreciates the forward, who would be a welcome addition in N5.

Cunha is firmly on Arsenal's radar and is a player they are considering for the summer.

Vitor Pereira unhappy with Matheus Cunha’s efforts against Chelsea

In the midst of this saga, Cunha cut a frustrated figure on Monday night during Wolves' 3-1 defeat to Chelsea.

And the Brazilian's attitude actually led to criticism from his manager, Pereira, after the game, who understood that Cunha was a 'human' amid all the speculation – but he still called for greater focus.

Pereira said: "This is something that cannot happen again, the frustration is the frustration, I understand everything, we need to be together.

"And together we can fix the problems and stay in the Premier League, if we start to complain about this and that, with this it won’t work.

"He’s committed to Wolves, but when you start to listen to the other clubs, I think he’s human, the players start to be a little bit… It’s normal in football.

"He needs to put the mind in the target to increase his level. He comes from injury, it’s normal he’s not in the same level to help the team with his quality.

"He has a lot, the team needs him with good energy, not with frustration, he must slow down and put the mind in the right way."
