Leeds United have made a promising start in the 2024/25 Championship campaign and are looking to cement their position in the promotion race.

Daniel Farke‘s side were able to put the pressure on top of the league Sunderland with three points on Tuesday night.

The victory over Watford saw Leeds draw level on points with the Black Cats but remain in second spot with Sunderland in action on Wednesday night.

However, it has by no means been a straightforward start to the campaign for the Whites who have had to deal with come considerable injuries already.

Farke has already lost Ethan Ampadu and Ilia Gruev to long-term injuries which has seen them on the search for midfield reinforcement.

Leeds sources have confirmed to TBR Football that they have completed the signing of Josuha Guilavogui.

Why Leeds haven’t announced Josuha Guilavogui

Leeds have been scouring the world for available midfielders but they have finally opted to for former France international, Guilavogui.

The 34-year-old has agreed terms until the end of the season but Leeds are now awaiting approval from the Football League.

Leeds held talks with Cheikhou Kouyate, but issues with his medical saw them pull out as they need someone who can be involved from the off.

The Yorkshire club also held talks with the likes of Christoph Kramer and Francis Coquelin who was offered a trial at Leeds.

Guilavogui will need time to find fitness

Guilavogui has now been without a club since the start of the summer when he departed Bundesliga outfit Mainz.

The 34-year-old has had the full summer to work on his fitness, however, he has not played a minute of competitive football this summer.

Fortunately, Leeds are not looking in desperate need for a player to come straight into the starting XI with the results still positive at Elland Road.

But Guilavogui’s eventual arrival at the club could be a slow one with his integration into Farke’s side likely going to need time given his lack of first team action of late.
