Newcastle United’s Lloyd Kelly is of interest to Juventus, with the Italian media strongly pushing the story.

The Italian giants are now working towards signing the defender, who arrived at St James' Park last summer on a free transfer after his contract at Bournemouth had expired.

Corriere dello Sport report today that while Newcastle United’s initial response to letting Kelly depart was negative, Juve continue to try to pursue a move. Talks between the two clubs took place late into last night.

The Bianconeri are seeking help from a well-known and experienced intermediary to land the 26-year-old Kelly and attempts are being made by him to bring the two parties close. Unfortunately, for those of us who are nosey, the name of the intermediary isn’t shared.

Juve want to sign Kelly on an initial loan deal with the option to buy based on certain conditions. It is yet to be understood how Newcastle United feel about the deal, but more talks between the two clubs will be held today.

The indication so far has been that the Magpies have not really been open to the terms on offer from the Turin club, who are desperate to sign a defender as time runs out in the transfer window.
