Expert claims Arsenal are plotting move to sign Bayern star after Saka latest

Arsenal are keeping a close eye on Leroy Sane’s contract situation as they weigh up a potential move to sign him on a free transfer.
That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that the 29-year-old has emerged as a target for Mikel Arteta’s side.
The Gunners are keen to sign a new winger as they want to provide greater depth behind Bukayo Saka while also improving on the left-hand side.
This comes after injuries to both Saka and Gabriel Martinelli left Arteta short of attacking options for a crucial stage of the season as they stumbled in the title race.
Sane left Man City to join Bayern Munich for an initial £45million fee in in 2020 but talks about a contract renewal stalled, putting clubs across Europe on alert.
His Premier League and European winning experience is seen as a valuable asset for the Gunners, who are planning to finally lift the title next season.

Leroy Sane emerges as top target for Arsenal
Brown told Football Insider on 29 October that Arsenal are working on a deal for Sane, as he has been open to talks about a pre-contract agreement since January.
Now, the former scout who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, insisted the German is one of Arteta’s top targets to add depth out wide.
“I was surprised when he left Man City in the first place,” he told Football Insider.
“At that time, he was one of the most productive wingers in the Premier League, he was a player who could make a difference in any game.
“There aren’t many players who are capable of doing that.
“Since his move to Germany I haven’t heard too much about him, but from what I have seen, he still has that game-changing ability.
“I don’t think Arsenal will be the only club interested if he’s available for free.
“But we know Mikel Arteta wants to add new wingers to his squad.
“It’s been a major blow for them this season, losing Saka and Martinelli, and they need a player who can come in and rotate with the two of them.
“His ability is proven and he’s got plenty of winning experience.
“So Arsenal’s scouts will have been watching him closely at Bayern and they’ll be keeping a close eye on his contract situation so they can make a move if he leaves for free.”
Mikel Arteta plotting new midfield signing at the Emirates
Alongside the addition of a new winger in the summer, Arsenal are also set to pursue a new central midfielder as Thomas Partey and Jorginho near moves away.
Brown told Football Insider that Arsenal want to sign Newcastle star Bruno Guimaraes to play alongside Declan Rice in the middle of the park.
Arteta is looking to strengthen his squad after his team's stuttering form in the latter stages of this season, as they prepare for a renewed title challenge in the 2025/26 season.
However, Football Insider revealed on 18 March that Arsenal will find a deal for Guimaraes difficult to pull off given the finances involved as Newcastle do not want to sell.
