Expert: Man United rival Arsenal in race to sign Juventus star

Man United are prepared to rival Arsenal in their efforts to sign Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic, according to their former chief scout.
Mick Brown, who spent over a decade at Old Trafford during the club’s most successful period and remains very well-connected there, exclusively told Football Insider that United are keeping a close eye on the 24-year-old’s situation.
This comes after Brown told Football Insider on 17 December that Arsenal scouts are regularly watching the striker, who remains a key target despite turning down the move in 2021.
Man United have identified a new striker as a priority signing following Ruben Amorim’s arrival and are considering a number of options to fill the position.
Brown explained that Vlahovic has joined the likes of Viktor Gyokeres on United’s list of targets.
The Serbian’s goalscoring record at Juventus makes for impressive reading, having found the net 12 times in 20 appearances so far this season, including four in five Champions League games.
This has placed him firmly on the radar of a number of clubs amid increasing speculation that he could leave Turin come the end of the season.

Football Insider revealed on 11 December that United are monitoring Vlahovic, who’s contract is set to expire come the end of next season as they remain locked in a standoff.
Brown, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after also having worked as the chief or senior scout for the likes of West Ham and Aston Villa, insisted that United are prepared to beat rivals to the striker’s signature.
“He’s a player United have certainly got their eye on,” he told Football Insider.
“Signing a new striker appears to have become a priority for Amorim since his arrival, and there are a few options they’ve been considering.
“We’ve spoken before about the likes of Viktor Gyokeres who they are watching.
“They’re keeping a close eye on his [Vlahovic’s] situation at Juventus to see whether he would be a viable option for their side.
“If, for whatever reason, Juventus decide to let him go, I’m sure United will be right there.
“They won’t be the only club interested of course, but Man United will always believe that they can beat other teams to the signing of these types of players.“
