Newcastle United are planning to entertain offers for Lewis Miley this summer as they aim to raise money before they spend this summer.

That is according to former Man United and Sunderland chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that Newcastle will view the 18-year-old’s sale as an opportunity to raise pure profit.

Eddie Howe will have to make a “big decision” about whether Miley is likely to break into the starting XI and whether he is viewed as a player who will make them better.

With Bruno Guimaraes and Sandro Tonali set to stay at Newcastle alongside Joelinton, there are doubts about whether he will become a first-team regular.

As a result, Newcastle will entertain offers for his services with the belief that a “big offer” will be accepted to aid their financial situation.

This comes after former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson told Football Insider in January that Newcastle could be forced to sell to avoid a PSR breach.

Eddie Howe to make Lewis Miley decision at Newcastle United

Brown told Football Insider that Newcastle could accept offers for Anthony Gordon if they are forced to sell players before they can buy this summer.

Now, the former scout who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, has insisted Newcastle view Miley as a sellable asset given his homegrown status.

Eddie Howe has got to make a big decision,” he told Football Insider.

“The lad has come through the academy system, he’s done well, but can he go on and cement himself in the side to make them a better team?

“If the answer to that is no, and I have a feeling it might be when you look at the options they’ve got in his position, they could look to move him on.

“With the FFP and PSR thing going on, they feel they can make some decent money from him.

“He’s definitely one of the players I can see them looking to cash in on.

“Whatever he is sold for would be pure profit, and we know how valuable that is, so if they get a big offer they might have no choice but to accept it.

“It’s a similar story to what Man United have had with Kobbie Mainoo.

“In an ideal world, you keep these players and they come through the academy to make a difference, but the way things are if you get offers you have to consider them.”

Arsenal plot move to sign Anthony Gordon after exit twist

Amid speculation about potential departures from St James’ Park, Arsenal are believed to be keeping tabs on Anthony Gordon’s situation.

Brown told Football Insider on 15 April that Arsenal are plotting a move to sign Gordon as the 24-year-old is high on their list of transfer targets.

The winger's agent has been circulating his name as a potential option in recent weeks and is said to be driving the speculation about his future.

The Magpies remain extremely reluctant to lose their best players, but would be prepared to cash in on the England man ahead of Alexander Isak.
