Arsenal are planning to turn down any advances for Gabriel Magalhaes this summer despite interest from Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Nassr.

That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that Mikel Arteta has no plans to weaken his squad in the window.

Al-Nassr would be prepared to pay “mega money” to land the 27-year-old, but he remains a vital part of Arsenal’s defensive unit under Arteta.

As a result, the Gunners have no interest in entertaining the possibility of his exit as work has already begun to prepare for a strong summer transfer window.

Alongside William Saliba, Gabriel has helped form a formidable defensive partnership which has been key to Arsenal’s growth and success in recent years.

This comes after Brown told Football Insider that Real Madrid want to sign Saliba as they aim to strengthen their defence, but Arsenal are reluctant to let him go.

Arsenal to turn down offers for Gabriel after Arteta decision

Arteta has been aiming to add to his centre-back options this summer, after Football Insider revealed Arsenal want to sign Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi.

Brown, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, explained that Arsenal are very reluctant to lose key players this summer and will only look to strengthen.

I would be very surprised to see him leave Arsenal,” he told Football Insider.

Mikel Arteta puts a lot of stock in having that strong, solid back line.

“It has been the foundation of their success in the last couple of seasons.

“Gabriel is an integral part of that, so they have no intention of letting him leave, and he still has years left on his contract so he won’t go for free.

“Whenever Saudi clubs are involved, you know they’re prepared to come up with mega money.

“But I don’t think Arsenal could be tempted to cash in on a player who is so important to them.

“If there are going to be any changes at Arsenal, I’d expect them to be incoming players rather than allowing anybody to leave.

“I’ve not heard anything to suggest there are any plans to let Garbiel leave under any circumstances.”

Despite ongoing questions about Gabriel’s future, Arsenal’s summer plans are largely focused on improving at the other end of the pitch.

Brown told Football Insider on 18 March that Arsenal are keeping tabs on Leroy Sane’s situation as he edges closet to a move away from Bayern Munich on a free transfer.

This comes after injuries to Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka derailed the Gunners’ Premier League title hopes and exposed the lack of depth in their positions.

Arsenal are also watching Atalanta star Ademola Lookman with a summer deal in mind after his falling-out with manager Gian Piero Gasparini.
