Expert predicts Crystal Palace response to Arsenal interest in 25-yr-old

Crystal Palace are “very keen” to keep hold of Tyrick Mitchell in the January transfer window despite speculation about his future amid interest from Arsenal.
That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that the 25-year-old is likely to remain in South London this month.
This comes after Brown told Football Insider that the Gunners’ scouts have been “closely watching” the left-back as they plan to strengthen that position in their squad.
Mitchell has been heavily linked with a move away from Selhurst Park in the coming transfer windows, with both domestic and European teams keeping tabs on his situation.
However, despite widespread reports claiming his contract will expire at the end of the current season, Crystal Palace sources have confirmed to Football Insider that his deal is set to run until 2027.
That has placed the Eagles in a far stronger negotiating position, and Brown has now insisted they will not listen to offers for the left-back this month.
The former scout went on to explain that Mitchell’s departure would force Palace into the transfer market, but they would struggle to find a better option.
Arsenal to miss out on Tyrick Mitchell after Crystal Palace reveal
Football Insider exclusively revealed on 10 January that the Eagles would turn away any interest in Mitchell this month as he is highly thought-of at Selhurst Park.
Brown, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after spending over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, echoed that reveal and insisted Mitchell would have to decide whether a move would be in his best interests.
“Crystal Palace are very keen to keep hold of him,” he told Football Insider.
“He’s been a regular in their team for three or four years now and starts every week.
“They also have to question where they’re going to go and get somebody better.
“We know they’ve been looking at left-backs in January, but that in large part is down to the depth because they don’t have a lot of options.
“If Mitchell was to leave, they’d need to sign another. That’s going to cost a decent chunk of money and there’s no guarantee that player would be better than what they’ve got now.
“Players like Mitchell have to decide whether they’re better off being a bit-part player at Arsenal or a regular in the Crystal Palace team.
“It’s a very dangerous one, you can go out of the frying pan and into to fire if you’re not careful.
“But I wouldn’t expect Palace to listen to offers for him this month anyway.
“Not only would they be losing a key player from their team, but it would then force them to find a replacement on relatively short notice.”
