Thomas Frank is unlikely to be one of the leading candidates to replace Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham, according to their former scout.

Mick Brown, who also worked as the chief scout at Man United and Blackburn and remains very well-connected at his former clubs, exclusively told Football Insider that Daniel Levy want to appoint a high-profile boss to transform the side.

The Brentford boss has received high praise for the job he has done in West London, but he does not currently fit the mould Spurs are looking for.

Football Insider revealed on 18 April that Tottenham are considering triggering Frank’s Brentford release clause which would allow them to hold formal talks.

While the Brentford boss remains on the list of options in North London, he is not believed to be among the front-runners to replace Postecoglou as things stand.

This comes after Brown told Football Insider that Postecoglou will be sacked by Tottenham and the decision has already been made behind the scenes.

Tottenham make Thomas Frank decision after Postecoglou sack

Brown told Football Insider on 14 April that Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola is liked by Tottenham and is currently in pole position for the manager’s job.

Now, the former scout who has a wealth of experience working closely with top-level managers including the likes of Sir Alex Ferguson after over a decade at Man United, insisted that Frank is well-respected but is unlikely to be given the job.

There’s no doubt Frank has done a fantastic job at Brentford,” he told Football Insider.

“But’s a completely different job to managing Tottenham Hotspur.

“His job at Brentford cannot be questioned, he’s done better than many others would have, and everybody I speak to has a lot of respect and admiration for him.

“The issue is, Tottenham have had about 15 well-respected managers who have done jobs elsewhere.

“I think they’re looking at higher-profile managers to come in and transform them into a winning outfit.

“I don’t know whether Frank meets that star status they’re looking for.

“He’s a very intelligent and talented manager who has done very well, so I don’t doubt he’ll be under consideration, but I wouldn’t expect him to be a leading candidate.”

Bournemouth respond to Spurs’ Andoni Iraola links

Iraola has been heavily tipped as the next manager in line at Tottenham, but Bournemouth are extremely reluctant to lose their manager after an impressive season.

As a result, Football Insider revealed on 18 April that Bournemouth have offered Iraola a new contract in order to fend off interest from rival clubs.

Iraola's stock has exploded this season with the Cherries on the cusp of European qualification for the first time in their history.

Brown previously told Football Insider that Bournemouth are doing everything to agree terms with Iraola and have been working overtime to secure his long-term future.
