Arsenal return to action on Tuesday night with a Champions League clash against Shakhtar Donetsk in north London.

It was a weekend to forget for Mikel Arteta‘s side who tasted their first defeat of the season at the hands of Bournemouth.

Adding to Arsenal‘s misery was the sending off of William Saliba who is now set to miss the game on the weekend against Liverpool.

One other player who could be miss the game on the weekend is Bukayo Saka who is still suffering from an injury issue.

Saka did not train ahead of the game against Shakhtar but the north London side will be hoping for his return ahead of the huge game on the weekend.

What Arsenal are doing to get Bukayo Saka back from injury

Frustratingly, Arsenal have been without Saka following his injury issue picked up during the latest international break.

The winger sustained a thigh injury which saw him return to London Colney early from the England camp.

However, the 23-year-old has been unable to make his return on the weekend and the game in the Champions League now looks out of reach.

Speaking on his Daily Briefing, Charles Watts has now claimed the Gunners are doing everything they can behind the scenes to get Saka back on the pitch.

“Bukayo Saka didn't train on Monday ahead of the Shakhtar game, so he is obviously a doubt for Tuesday night and Liverpool on Sunday might also come too soon for him,” he said.

“It's too early to rule him out for that, but you can't really take any risks when it comes to hamstring injuries.

“One thing that is for sure is that Arsenal will do everything they can to have Saka available for the weekend.”

Arsenal can’t afford to risk worsening Saka’s injury

The game on the weekend against Liverpool is obviously going to be a huge fixture in the race for the Premier League title.

However, there is still a seriously long way to go in the title race and it will not be decided on Sunday in north London.

Liverpool have shown they are capable of dropping points to the likes of Nottingham Forest already this season.

And given Saka has already returned nine goal contributions in the Premier League already, Arsenal cannot afford to worsen Saka’s injury by rushing him back for the weekend.
