A former Real Madrid defender will have wished he kept the receipt for a tattoo after he received devastating news from his ex-girlfriend.

Ingrid Lima revealed on October 8 she had given birth to a baby girl, Maite.

Although the pair had separated, Tobias believed the child was his and got a tattoo of Maite’s name on his arm in celebration.

The Brazilian also had the phrase ‘te amo’ – which means ‘I love you’ in Portuguese – inked underneath Maite’s name.

However, in a devastating post on Instagram, Lima confirmed the child was not Tobias’.

Lima, who boasts 104k followers on the social media platform, instead revealed she had become involved with another man, who turned out to be the biological father.

“I came to give a statement about something that is getting annoying and that, unfortunately, I would have to come out on publicly to give you an explanation,’ Lima wrote on Instagram.

“Vinicius and I haven’t been together for a while. During that time, I was in a relationship with someone and so was he. We both moved on with our lives.

“In the meantime, Maite came along. We decided to do a DNA test, and Maite is not Vinicius’ daughter.'”

Tobias is yet to issue a statement regarding the test.

The right-back came through the academy at Brazilian side Internacional and was named by The Guardian as one of the best 60 young talents across the globe in 2021.

His eye-catching displays and promising potential earned him a move to Shakhtar Donetsk in February 2022.

However, he moved to Real Madrid just two months after arriving in Ukraine due to Russia’s invasion that year.

Tobias went on to make 67 appearances across three different Madrid teams and provided nine assists.

He made one appearance for Madrid’s senior team in the third round of the Copa Del Rey last season as he started in the 3-1 win over Arandina.

Tobias returned to Shakhtar Donetsk in July this year and signed a five-year extension with the club.

He started in the club’s 0-0 draw against Bologna in the Champions League on September 18 and has also featured three times in the Ukrainian Premier Liga.
