Fulham, Sporting CP and Ajax are all chasing Panathinaikos’ Georgios Vagiannidis ahead of the summer window.
That’s according to A Bola, and they mention Fulham and Ajax in a report that focuses on Sporting’s interest in the 23-year-old.
The newspaper states Sporting have identified the right-back as one of the main targets for next season.
Sporting directors are aware of the competition they will face from Fulham and Ajax.
Marco Silva’s side, the Amsterdam club and Botafogo have closely followed the Greece international closely since January. It’s claimed these clubs already made formal contact to try and sign him for next season.
A Bola don’t specify whether the Premier League club contacted Panathinaikos, his camp or both.
Sporting have tried to get ahead of the competition and tabled a €6m bid for him. This was initially reported by the Greek media and A Bola have backed it up. They then state Panathinaikos have rejected this proposal and are demanding €10m for Vagiannidis.
Fulham will have step up their efforts after making formal contact, and tussle with Sporting and Ajax to sign the Greek fullback.
