Fulham’s star players Alex Iwobi and Rodrigo Muniz sent messages to their teammate Sasa Lukic as his side suffered without their star man.

Fulham have enjoyed a successful campaign so far, under the stewardship of Tottenham target Marco Silva.

The Whites sit eighth in the Premier League, three points behind Man City in the final Champions League qualification spot and are just eight points shy of their record points total of 53.

Iwobi has enjoyed the best season of his career so far, whilst Muniz and Lukic continue to contribute to the Whites’ success with outstanding performances when called upon.

However, the Serbia international had a frustrating night, as his nation were missing a former Fulham star in their match against Austria.

Serbia without former Fulham star Aleksandar Mitrovic after hospitalisation

Al-Hilal striker and former Cottager, Aleksandar Mitrovic, was hospitalised last week after an abnormal heart rhythm was discovered.

The former Fulham star has since been discharged, but was missing from his countries’ Nations League match with Austria.

Serbia struggled to a 1-1 draw in Vienna, coming from behind in a match they were largely second-best in, with Lukic in particular having little influence on the game.

Following the draw, the former Torino man posted a series of images to Instagram from the night’s action, captioned with three love hearts in Serbia’s national colours, red, blue, and white.

Iwobi commented: “baller” on the post, while Muniz sent a message to his teammate in Portuguese saying: “Craque”, which roughly translates to “Ace”.

Sasa Lukic quietly impresses at Fulham following difficult start

Football Insider Verdict

Joao Palhinha’s exit from Fulham to Bayern Munich was an inevitable transfer, that Fulham attempted to plan for.

The Portuguese midfielder had admirers from across Europe from the moment he signed for the Whites, so the Cottagers signed Lukic as his replacement.

Palhinha’s exit actually came a season later than expected at Craven Cottage, giving the Serbian midfielder more time to bed in at Fulham.

However, initial performances were concerning, Lukic consistently struggled with the pace of the game, looking slow and sluggish in a white shirt.

With Palhinha now in Bavaria, the Serbia international has finally blossomed into the midfielder Silva hoped he would become.

Lukic has started 21 games for Fulham, and has been an integral piece in the club’s push for Europe.
