Germany were forced to delete their latest squad list after accidentally including Latvia star Dario Sits.
Julian Nagelsmann named a 23-man squad for next week’s Nations League matches against Bosnia & Herzegovina and Hungary.
However, when the squad list was added to the German FA website, an unknown 24th player appeared.
Listed alongside Kai Havertz and Serge Gnabry as one of Germany’s forwards was 20-year-old Sits.
The striker is not a hidden gem Nagelsmann has unearthed for the four-time World Cup winners, though.
In fact, he has already won two senior international caps for Latvia under head coach Paolo Nicolato.
Sits has one goal in two appearances for Latvia, having made his debut against North Macedonia last month.
As for his inclusion in the Germany squad, it turned out to simply be a technical error.
The website was no longer accessible just moments later as the issue was resolved.
Both Latvia and Sits immediately saw the funny side, as the national team’s X account posted: “Hey Germany, we appreciate your interest, but Dario Slit’s flight is already booked to Riga.”
Meanwhile Sits shared a handful of emojis, which included laughing and crying face emoticons.
Sits will now be looking to make his mark in the upcoming Nations League matches against North Macedonia and Armenia.

He has scored four goals and chipped in with two assists in 12 second-tier appearances, with his team sitting top the table after 13 matches.
And he will be now hoping to help Latvia improve on their current third spot in League C Group 4.
As for Germany, they have already assured themselves of a place in the Nations League quarter-finals.
The top two nations from each League A group will compete in the last eight in March 2025.
Of those quarter-finalists, the winners will then advance to the Nations League Finals in June.
