Luke Littler has been told to ditch his new darts by fans after crashing out of the World Grand Prix in the first round.

The 17-year-old had been the tournament favourite, but lost 2-1 to Rob Cross after fighting back from going 1-0 down and missing a flurry of trebles.

In truth, Cross had an excellent game, as well as taking full advantage of Littler’s wobbles on his debut in the double start format competition.

But fans watching from home on Monday night believe Littler looked much less comfortable due to his new darts.

And plenty of them are convinced he should go back to his former set to get back to his former pinpoint accuracy.

“Four 180's in the first set aside – he's not looked as comfortable with them as his old ones…needs to change back asap,” one wrote on X.

Another said: “It’s a shock but not really Littler been struggling at crucial moments in recent times with his new darts!”

“I don’t care its the exact same darts with a different colour, Littler needs to bin those gold darts immediately,” a third added.

Littler could only turn away and smile as he waited for Cross to get the job done.

He was gracious in defeat, though, shaking ‘Voltage’s hand.

World no. 4 Cross faces Martin Schindler next.

Elsewhere, world champion Luke Humphries produced an astonishing comeback to deny Stephen Bunting and begin his bid for back-to-back World Grand Prix titles.

The world no. 1 beat Bunting 2-1.

He will challenge Ricardo Pietreczko, who forgot a major rule change in the competition in his victory, in the next round.

The winner of the tournament wins a whopping £600,000.
