'Gone cold': Sky journalist says he's no longer hearing about £30m player signing for Tottenham

Tottenham still need to sign a striker this summer.

The north London club still haven't properly replaced Harry Kane after selling the England captain to Bayern Munich last summer, and they need to act in this transfer window.

Tottenham have been linked with a number of potential options up front, and one player who has long been linked with Spurs is Jonathan David.

The Lille striker is heading into the final year of his contract and there's some level of expectation that he will be on the move this summer.

Speaking on Last Word on Spurs, Dharmesh Sheth has been discussing David and his links to Tottenham, and while he says he heard about Spurs wanting David earlier in the transfer window, the trail appears to have gone cold on that front.

Sheth shared what he has and hasn't been hearing about Jonathan David and Spurs.

"I did hear earlier in the window that they were one of a number of clubs looking at Jonathan David's situation, but it's kind of gone cold a bit on that front," Sheth said.

David will be on the move

Jonathan David may not be linked as heavily to Spurs these days, but he'll surely be on the move soon.

David's pricetag has dropped, he's in the final year of his contract and he's still a fantastic player.

Any Premier League club needing a new striker would be wise to go after the Canadian, and Spurs should be somewhere close to the front of that queue.

It remains to be seen what Spurs do in order to bolster their attack this summer, but they still need to find the right player who can act as a replacement for Harry Kane.
