The Premier League returns this weekend, and without a doubt, the standout fixture of this round of fixtures is Sunday's north London derby.

Tottenham face Arsenal on Sunday, and to say that this is a tricky game to predict would be an understatement.

Yes, Arsenal have been better than Tottenham over the past two seasons, but, on their day, Spurs are a match for any team, while Arsenal have some injury and suspension issues to deal with.

Speaking on the No Tippy Tappy Football Podcast, Sam Allardyce has been previewing this game, and he's had a go at predicting how this match will turn out.

Sam Allardyce's north London derby prediction

Big Sam shared how he thinks this game will go.

"It's going to be a great game, very interesting. The managers will have to be tactically astute throughout the game to cover what they may need to cover to block off what the opposition are doing for a while or to try to expose a weakness in the opposition defence," Allardyce said.

"We want end to end and action in the box to show the quality both teams have got. My score is 2-1 to Arsenal. A 2-1, but I shall be sat down with a cup of tea and a biscuit."

Arsenal are slight favourites

Allardyce has picked Arsenal to win narrowly here, and that's a prediction that makes a lot of sense.

Indeed, Arsenal are narrow favourites heading into this game.

The Gunners have established themselves as the second-best team in the Premier League over the past two years, and while they do have injury issues, this is still a strong squad.

Of course, Tottenham, at their best, are brilliant, but it's been a while since we've seen this Spurs team properly click, and their start to the season has been inconsistent.

This game will be close, but Arsenal are marginal favourites heading into this one.
