Chelsea are doing extremely well at the moment, perhaps better than expected.

When Chelsea appointed Enzo Maresca as their head coach in the summer of 2024 and signed a number of players, including Tosin Adarabioyo, Omari Kellyman, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Pedro Neto and Joao Felix, many felt that it was going to be yet another season of transition for the Blues.

Chelsea are proving their detractors wrong. Under Maresca, the Blues are third in the Premier League table at the moment.

What is even more encouraging for Chelsea is that they are level on points with fourth-placed Arsenal and are only four points behind second-placed and defending champions Manchester City.

One of the players who has done well for Chelsea this season is Moises Caicedo.

Caicedo, who has impressed former Chelsea manager Graham Potter, has scored one goal and given two assists in 11 Premier League games this campaign.

The 23-year-old defensive midfielder has been a force to be reckoned with in the middle of the park for Chelsea, who have been linked with Illya Zabarnyi.

The Ecuador international is second in the list of most tackles made by a player in the Premier League this season with 38.

Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer has included Caicedo in his Premier League Team of the Season so far and has noted how much he has developed under Maresca.

Shearer wrote about Caicedo on PremierLeague.com: "He has made great strides under Enzo Maresca and Chelsea now look a different side altogether thanks to his dynamic midfield performances.”

Alan Shearer also impressed with Chelsea star Cole Palmer

Another Chelsea player who has impressed Shearer so far this season is Cole Palmer.

The BBC Match of the Day pundit has included Palmer in his Premier League Team of the Season so far.

The 22-year-old England international, who can operate as an attacking midfielder or as a winger, has scored seven goals and given five assists in 11 Premier League games this campaign.

Palmer, compared to Gareth Bale by Dimitar Berbatov, found the back of the net 22 times and provided 11 assists in 29 Premier League starts for the Blues last season.

Shearer wrote on PremierLeague.com: "A modern, versatile forward who is getting better with every game he plays. Palmer is simply phenomenal at everything he does."
