Arsenal midfielder Ethan Nwaneri is currently right on the cusp of his first team breakthrough under Mikel Arteta, who has previously been reluctant to rush the youngster.

In truth, Nwaneri has probably been ready to play minutes for Arsenal's first team for some time, but Arteta has always been hesitant to set players up to fail.

However, given Martin Odegaard's significant injury, Arsenal may now turn to Nwaneri on a more regular basis, especially after his contribution in the North London derby.

The 17-year-old looked both talented and mature in his cameo, which came in difficult circumstances.

That being said, Arsenal might start Nwaneri against Atalanta, even if the Italian side will present an equally difficult challenge to Tottenham.

Jorginho impressed with three key areas of Ethan Nwaneri’s game at Arsenal

Ahead of Arsenal facing Atalanta, Jorginho spoke at the club's press conference alongside Arteta.

Moreover, given the excitement around Nwaneri right now, Jorginho was asked about his midfield teammate and how he's progressing since joining the first team.

Jorginho was very complimentary about the England youth International and predicted a big future for him at Arsenal should he maintain his current standards.

Speaking via Hayters TV, he said: "Yeah he's a young lad, he's growing a lot, he's improving every single day – talented player with good skills who can dribble, who can break lines, can find a goal, can find a pass.

"So I think he can have a good future in front of him if he stays the way he's been training and trying to improve every day."

And as Arteta will be realising right now, it's becoming harder and harder to hold Nwaneri back.

Myles Lewis-Skelly also deserves his Arsenal opportunity

Of course, along with Nwaneri, Arsenal youngsters Myles Lewis-Skelly and Jack Porter have travelled to Italy with the first team squad.

Lewis-Skelly will be a well known name by now but Porter may not be so familiar with Arsenal supporters.

16-year-old Porter is a goalkeeper tipped for a big future in north London, a profile that has seldom emerged from the Hale End Academy.

Arsenal haven't seen too many homegrown keepers make the first team in recent years, but Porter may buck the trend.

That being said, Atalanta's Sead Kolasinac has been speaking about Arsenal ahead of his reunion with the club on Thursday evening.
